What Does Christmas Feel Like

For me it is the joy and wonder in the eyes of children. The memories of my grandmother sitting in her rocking chair by the fireplace and my Mother going through the house singing,  all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth reminding me she did have a sense of humor.

Christmas is not about what we can receive but what can we give that will touch the heart of someone else. David and I in any church we served as pastors  and in our home taught this to our three daughter and our church families.

Last evening I had the joy of seeing my family carry on this tradition as my son in law Pastor Carlos Castillo Jr, my daughter, Cynthia Castillo, grandson Carlos Castillos III with all of the church family from Connection Church. We provided a Christmas banquet, bag full of groceries, bread from the bakery, dessert and toys for the children. We also prayed with every family after they received their gift. The joy and happiness of those parents and Children was the greatest gift I could receive. What does Christmas feel like? Expressing the love of a baby that came in a manger and hung on a cross to save the world.

Merry Christmas to all!

YES, YOU CAN!

Saying, I can’t is the number one obstacle in our lives. We claim defeat before we ever enter the fight. I was homeschooling my grandson a few days ago and I heard him say I can’t  several times. I closed the book and said let’s talk. He looked at me and my heart melted. I told him you need to understand that you are part of a family of faith based on God’s word to us.The Bible tells us we can do anything through the power of Jesus Christ. Then I began to remind him of all the things he had learned to do in just a few months. His face lit up with a big smile and I could see he understood. I told him that voice that he hears telling him he cannot do something is a liar and not to listen. To always reply, Yes I can because Jesus said I could.

Now apply that same strategy to the lives of adults that read God’s word but spend their time dwelling on what they cannot do or do not have.It is that attitude that keeps miracles out of our lives and robs us of any hope or joy. We are entering a time when God wants to do wonderful things in and through our lives and we have to start living the word of God not only reading it every day.

Do you really believe, Philippians 4:13, “I have the strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self- sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].”(AMP)

I have found that when I speak out loud the written words in the Bible it becomes a part of me, mind, soul, and spirit. There is Holy Spirit power released into the atmosphere surrounding me and I see the manifestation of the things I am believing for, so will you.I pray today manifested blessings in your life!

Focus on The Postive

Growing up in the church we sang the song, count Your blessings, name them one by one. There is a lesson to be learned in those words. When you really appreciate what you already have you become a person of gratitude. I keep a journal of my requests made to God and date them. When my prayer is granted, I write, Thank You, and date it. During those times when needs seem to be stacking up higher than the budget, I go back to my journal and remind myself of each of the blessings I have already received.

A grateful heart will build your faith to the point you no longer have to see the answer before you know you already have it. There is a difference in going to church and having an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father. Trust comes from knowing the word and the One that inspired the writing of the word of God. There are so many wonderful promises given to us in God's word that goes unnoticed and we never receive because we do not read them as living words.

In Philippians 4: 6 we read, "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."(AMP) I encourage you to start setting time aside to get to know Father God as a Father that cares for His children. Trust me, He is waiting to bless you in a way that only He can. Forget the man-made heroes they are nothing more than a fantasy. Our God is the maker of the universe and wants to be a real part of your life, not just a Sunday Morning experience.
